Last Tuesday Ryan had his first cross country meet. I drove with Chloe, Minah and my Dad about 40 minutes from our home. Grandpa Mark and Grandma Ruth went too and Matt met us there after work. It was a beautiful location with a nicely shaded park and the girls had fun playing on the playground equipment. It was a tough course though. They had to run through the woods in a loop and once they exited the trees, they had to run down this huge, steep hill and then repeat it a second time. I was afraid someone was going to get hurt running down the hill but everyone was fine. Ryan has competed for years on the swim team but this was the first time he could hear the cheers and I think he really enjoyed it. It was fun to watch and he did great. They compete as a middle school vs 7th and 8th graders. Overall he placed 18th and they had 7 teams with over 70 runners. For his team he placed 9th. He has set his sights on being in the top 7 so he is excited to see how he does next week. Next week he has 3 more competitions. I am so proud of him.
